Mark Maier - award-winning stand-up comedian, improviser and writer

Mark Maier is a stand-up comedian, improviser and writer who has spent decades building a reputation on both the national and international comedy circuits. He came to stand-up after a career as an award-winning radio copywriter in the UK and in Hollywood, and that writing background shows in his sharp, well-crafted material. His talent for accents and dialects also led him into voiceover work, and he has taken his live comedy to clubs across Germany, Holland, Ireland, Hong Kong, the Bahamas, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, as well as to The Comedy Store in Los Angeles and Caroline's in New York.

His writing has picked up serious industry recognition, including three London International Advertising Awards for radio writing, an Aerial Award for radio writing, and a Radio Writing and Television Award from the Hollywood International Broadcast Award. On screen he appeared in Harry Hill The Movie and had cameo roles in Harry Hill's TEA-TIME, and he has written and performed numerous hit shows for BBC Radio 4, including three series of Trapped, the talking heads series Inner Voices of Men, and the sitcom Quando, Quando, Quando. He also worked with Catherine Tate on improvisation in London and founded the improv group MadLib, which performed at the Edinburgh Festival.

That rare combination of comedy writing pedigree and genuine stage experience across clubs worldwide makes Maier a smart booking for corporate and club audiences who want material with real craft behind it. His improv background means he can read a room and adapt on the fly, while his writing credits give event organisers confidence they are booking someone who understands comedy from every angle.
