Paul Pirie - stand-up comedian and MC

Paul Pirie gave up a career in acting to start stand-up comedy in April 2004, and quickly built a name for himself on the Scottish circuit. His physical, theatrical stage presence and rapid-fire delivery blur the line between real life anecdote and flight of fancy, packing his sets with material that rewards an audience's full attention. That theatrical background gives his stand-up an energy and command of the stage that few newer acts can match, and it marked him out early as a genuine rising talent on the Scottish scene.

Paul was runner-up in the Scottish Comedian of the Year competition in 2006 and was a member of the Glasgow-based improv troupe Dance Monkey Boy, sharpening the quick-thinking instincts that still show in his live sets. Since then he has become one of the biggest Scottish acts on the UK comedy circuit, performing at the country's best clubs as well as touring internationally, including shows in Australia and for the Armed Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Few acts on the circuit can point to that same breadth of touring experience and audience range.

That combination of confident, high energy stagecraft and genuine road experience makes Paul a strong choice for club nights, corporate events and any audience that wants a comedian with total command of the room. His years of international touring, including shows in Australia and for the Armed Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, mean he arrives able to handle almost any room or crowd an organiser can put in front of him, wherever in the world that room happens to be.
