Rob Deering - stand-up comedian and musical loop-pedal artist

Rob Deering is a London-based musical comedian who performs stand-up built around a guitar, a loop pedal and his own voice, layering rock and pop soundscapes live on stage before turning them into punchlines. Raised between London and Oxfordshire, he launched his comedy career in 2000 and quickly carved out a niche as one of the UK's few genuinely musical stand-ups, blending technical skill with sharp writing rather than relying on novelty alone. The result is a set that sounds like nothing else on the circuit.

Rob reached the finals of the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award, the BBC New Comedy Award and the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year, and won the Amused Moose New Talent Award, before touring solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe for many years. He hosted and wrote three series of Out to Lunch on BBC Radio 2 and presented 99 Things to Do Before You Die on Channel 5, and in 2014 he won Celebrity Mastermind. Beyond comedy he is a keen marathon runner, having completed over twenty marathons and raised more than £150,000 for Parkinson's UK.

Rob's musical stand-up is a genuinely different kind of booking, ideal for festivals, corporate events and club nights that want something audiences haven't seen before. His live looping act is technically impressive as well as funny, giving a set real spectacle alongside the laughs. Booking Rob means a show that surprises a room and leaves them talking about how he actually did it.
