Roger Monkhouse is a London stand-up comedian and one of the circuit's most respected comperes, known for a stage-prowling style built on charm, sharp observation and total command of a room. Raised in Kingston upon Thames, he made his stand-up debut in 1990 and has spent more than three decades performing at The Comedy Store, the Glee Clubs and major clubs across the UK and internationally. His material favours intelligent, topical writing and a keen eye for a well-turned phrase, delivered with an easy, confident authority that instantly puts an audience at ease.
Roger has long been a member of the Comedy Store's prestigious Cutting Edge team, its topical late-night show, and is a regular writer for Channel 4's 8 Out of 10 Cats. He has appeared on The Comedy Store (Comedy Central) and The World Stands Up (Paramount Comedy), provided warm-up for Rory Bremner and Jonathan Ross, and is a frequent guest on GB News' Headliners and BBC Radio 4's Unsafe Spaces. In 2016 he was voted Best Compere by his fellow comedians, recognition of a skill few on the circuit can match.
That combination, deep circuit experience, quick topical wit and genuine mastery of hosting duties, makes Roger an outstanding choice as compere or headline act for corporate events, award nights and club shows. He reads a room fast, handles hecklers with ease, and keeps any evening moving with warmth and control. For an event that needs a safe pair of hands on the microphone, Roger is hard to beat.
