Sam Avery - stand-up comedian and bestselling author

Sam Avery is a Liverpool stand-up who has been working the UK circuit since his first gig in 2003, building a following with sharp, relatable material about family life and modern parenthood. Before comedy he chased a career in music, signed to BMG Records at seventeen and touring in support of acts including Motorhead and Ice-T, and later tried his hand as a stockbroker, neither of which stuck the way stand-up eventually did. That winding route into comedy gives his material an easy, self-aware honesty, delivered with the dry wit of his native Liverpool.

Since launching his first national tour in 2018, Avery has sold out venues across the country, including two nights at London's Leicester Square Theatre, with subsequent tours including Toddlergeddon, Role Model and How Not To Be a Terrible Parent charting the chaos of raising young children. He is a regular guest on TalkSport, BBC 6 Music and BBC 5 Live, and his online videos and blogs about parenting and everyday life have racked up millions of views. Alongside his stand-up career he is a bestselling author and has spent two decades as Artistic Director of The Comedy Trust, a Liverpool charity that uses comedy to support wellbeing.

Avery's material on family, marriage and the daily grind of parenthood plays well with almost any crowd, making him a safe and consistently funny choice for corporate audiences as well as club nights. His broadcast experience means he is quick on his feet and comfortable working a room of any size, while his charity work and author credentials add a level of credibility that event organisers can point to with confidence. A dependable, widely liked booking for comedy nights and corporate entertainment alike.
