Silky (Paul White) - Liverpool stand-up comedian and compere

Silky, real name Paul White, is a Liverpool stand-up comedian, musical comic and compere who has been working the circuit since 1994. He built his name as a guitar-playing storyteller, blending one-liners, off-the-cuff banter and songs into a set that moves easily between comedy clubs, theatres and outdoor stages. Known as a warm, quick-thinking host as much as a headline act, he has spent three decades as a fixture of the UK circuit, including compering regularly at Liverpool's Hot Water Comedy Club, while also running his own respected chain of clubs, Kill For A Seat.

Silky reached the final of the BBC New Comedy Award in the mid-1990s and has since toured internationally, performing in China, the Gulf, Singapore, the USA, Australia and across Europe, alongside regular appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe, Glastonbury and the Melbourne Comedy Festival. His television and radio credits include The Stand-Up Show on BBC and The World Stands Up on Paramount Comedy, along with TV warm-up work for BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing and 5 Star Family Reunion. He has been praised by The Guardian as a "massively engaging" performer and by fellow comedians including John Bishop and Tim Minchin.

Silky's easy rapport with a room, ability to improvise and genuine warmth make him a dependable choice for corporate functions, festival stages and family shows alike, with a client list that already takes in the likes of Nissan and GSK. Whether compering a full night or delivering his own headline set, he keeps things moving and leaves audiences smiling without ever needing to push for a laugh.
